Courses & Assessments

Assessment or Re-Assessment

Reassessment is only available to operatives who currently hold an indate ACS qualification. It is recommended that reassessment takes place with both core gas safety and appliances (e.g. CCN1 + CEN1 + HTR1 + CKR1 ,WAT1). By undertaking combined reassessments a significant saving in both time and costs can be achieved.

Further information on reassessment assessments is as follows:

DO I TAKE INITIAL ASSESSMENTS OR REASSESSMENT ASSESSMENTS

My present ACS qualification has almost expired will I need to retake the whole assessment again?

You could complete the whole assessment again but there is an ACS reassessment which is of shorter duration.

Can I take ACS reassessment without holding/having taken in the past an ACS assessment?

No. You must provide evidence, in the form of an original certificate of the ACS categories you have undertaken previously, to your assessment centre. However a valid aligned gas services S/NVQ certificate will be acceptable. (Ask centre for details if you think this applies.)

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION FOR OPERATIVES

What is the difference between the ACS initial assessment and the ACS reassessment assessment?
The ACS initial assessment takes longer to complete and has more written questions in it but does allow up to five attempts. The ACS reassessment assessment test only those key areas previously undertaken, plus any new legislation introduced over the last five years, and is shorter in length but you are only allowed a maximum of three attempts. ACS reassessment assessment is only available to operatives who have a current ACS qualification in those categories applied for.

If only my core expires can I just take that on its own again?
Yes, you could take it on its own but it would reduce overall time to take both the core and any appliances you hold together, as you would not need to repeat areas which are common to both core and appliances.

If I am taking my existing core and appliances as reassessment assessments can I include another appliance/core to extend my gas range?
No. The extra appliance/core must be taken under ACS initial assessment conditions.

What is a core assessment?
Core assessments are usually prerequisites to appliances and can be taken in domestic natural gas, commercial, catering or LPG situations prior to or in conjunction with relevant appliance assessments.
